Sir , my mood get spoilt the moment i land at that place . My junior colleague was saying to me . I give an understanding look but except that i can do nothing .He is complaining about the auto people in a city which is known for its polite people . And the people are polite except for the auto people . But for frequent travellers usually an autodriver is the first person they interact with and overcharging and rude behaviour is often the norm .
Except for a review or blogging there was hardly any recourse for the poor consumer of this transport mechanism. This problem is still there in many cities of india . Be it a tourist or official traveller nothing spoils the mood better than an auto driver who overcharges you and takes your minimal intellgence and politeness for granted .
God exists . Karma exists . For why else suddenly a company called uber landed and saved the consumer from the auto drivers . For many months i hardly get into an auto . Not that i am a VIP who will travel only in air conditioned cars even for a kilometre . Its because as a consumer i have been taken for a ride for decades by autodrivers . And this was payback time . I wait patiently for ubers these days( they take a few minutes ) though i can get an auto in a few seconds sometimes . And its not about money either. Ubers are often quite cheaper and with their frequent discounts sometimes are lesser than auto cost . Adding to that they have a feedback mechanism after every ride .
All it takes is download the app on your android and start using the uber car service . Ok do i sound like a marketing professional ? I am not affliated to uber in any way .
Again, the volvo ride is the next thing which is worth the rupee we spent . KSRTC buses has a subset of volvo fleet fully airconditioned and with huge windows of glass . It is one of the best ways to travel in kerala as we can see Gods own country without the dust or the bumps on the road . Music and better behaved conductors and lesser rush means this is a nice way of travelling long distance. The timings are easily got from website and are typically available every hour .
My junior is now in a foreign country which is famous for its cabs . But for me i am happy here in my city and each time think of him when i enjoy a ride in uber or volvo . Karma exists ..... Interested in knowing your experiences of uber , KSRTC volvos and also autos as comments .
