Recently i visited a restaurant in Calicut (Al Baik , near baby memorial hospital ) after 10 years . The taste was just like 10 years back (awesome ), the service the same ( though new faces ) and price just the same ( im kidding about this ) That visit and half broasted chicken re-energised me to say the least after a speaking assignment in town . And i mentally gave many stars for the experience and plan to write a good food review .
But surprisingly when i saw the reviews in tripadvisor it was mixed reviews . That is not surprising considering each person ( even foodies )have their unique priorities in an eating place .
But for me, after taste ,service always comes as an important priority . For one , when we go to a restaurant and pay 50-100 Rs for a coffee which costs less than half the price actually partly we are paying for the ambience and for good service . But more importantly its something more visceral beyond "customer is the king " attitude .
Food is available in prisons and also available after standing in a queue during famine time . Maybe when service is very poor and food is served in a take it or leave it manner it tugs at something deep and visceral . Though havent suffered hardships regarding food so far , maybe poor service gives me associations from countless movies which shows the hero /villain standing in line for food and food gets thrown at his face . \
So next time when you are treated like a hero or a zero in a restaurant express yourself if they have a feedback form or if thats missing write in tripadvisor . Every foodie owes himself or herself food served with a smile .
And for those in trivandrum please comment on which restaurant you had the best and worst service
