movie review conviction

There are movies which entertain and movies which make you think . The movie Conviction (2010 released) belongs to the latter . The movie starts with a brutal murder scene . Unfortunately their neighbour a young man played by Sam Rockwell in the movie is the prime suspect . Not only is this guy always landing in trouble with the law with his small crimes like assault etc but this time he has two scratch marks on his face . As a suspect he is arrested and soon at least two other women including his ex-girlfriend became witnesses against him and the jury awarded him life imprisonment without parole .

Gone case except for one small ray of hope . He had a sister who was convinced her her brother would never do such a horrific mindless crime .  Married with a husband and two kids she did the impossible .  She worked part-time and studied and passed one of the toughest courses the professional degree in law . In that long drawn out process her unsupportive husband divorced her but she finished the course and using the then  newly invented DNA analysis in crime scene  and her law degree   got her brother out of the prison and life imprisonment .  It turned out her brother was wrongfully convicted of murder due to personal enmity by a police officer .

As i told this movie breaches the barrier between the make believe world of movies and reality. Because this is based on a true story and this happened in real life .
