On kisses and cities

After the recent Kiss of Love protest in Gods own country kerala which became news even in BBC i couldnt help but think about a few random observations in my travels ..

I used to regularly drive along the sealink road in mumbai a beautiful bridge above 8 kms of sea . The approach road is a nice road which is very wide for a driving enthusiast like me .In a city like mumbai where its so densely populated and traffic is bumper to bumper at most places this road is a welcome break . But this stretch of the road is even now populated by more than 100 bikes on the side . These bikes are used by the couples to share romance . Having passed by that place in own driven car and then by taxi transport and never looked specifically public display of affection was very much evident . And to my knowledge no policeman has booked them for "immoral " acts while mumbai police is notorious in catching drunken driving which is indeed worse than any immoral act .

I started my newpaper reading properly in mumbai but the news was hardly ever filled with "immoral acts " . Not that these things were not happening but morality like many things were individual choice in mumbai ..a live and let live city .

In delhi when i went my friend was pointing to huge parks full of greenery by the roadside . He was telling unlike mumbai they have the parks for romance . Coming from kerala where romance is unknown:) :) t smiled when he was comparing mumbai and delhi ..

When i went to jaipur to see the huge forts (they are impressive and a must see ) on the way passed huge parks near the jungle . My friend told recently one couple were surprised by a wild animal while romancing . Of course the "wild animal " attack made news but not the couples romance .

Goa , delhi, mumbai ,jaipur , most places i went couples were left alone . Their newspapers were focussed on better things than sex scandals, secret cameras etc

Time and again i think are they indians or we keralites are indians upholding the indian culture . In our 5000+ year culture we had a morality which was shaped not by any dated victorian standards . In the land of Kamasutra kiss public or private still has a role . False morality does not .. Let me rest my case .. PS : This is my opinion . I am not encouraging or discouraging kissing in public or even in private . My point is individual freedom is most important even in this "immoral " act ...with kisses :)
