Lessons from rottweiler dog --- boundaries

These days i see a lot of animal videos  and read up on dog breeds . The cute ones , the documentaries etc etc . But i found one important lesson from one of the famous breeds of dogs the rottweiler .

Rottweilers were originally dogs which were used to herd cattle the large horned variety many times its size . For a dog to control a large herd of unruly cattle it mainly uses body language and posturing . Seldom does it resort to biting if at all . By assertive and firm behaviour it makes sure  the boundaries of herding are not violated . Of course it also protects herd from intruders and wild animals .

Be it professional life or personal life anyone can vouch there are some difficult people we have to deal with . Most people approach these people with a flight approach or if really brave a fight approach . But experience shows both doesnt work well in the long run . Its here that the concept of "boundaries " which is also mentioned in psychology is important .

Each person has a boundary psychologically especially in the things they are comfortable with , their value system etc . Difficult people who make up a minority often try to violate these personal boundaries of others . In professional life they could be a difficult boss or a coworker , and in personal life could be a relative or a "friend " . It is difficult indeed to deal with them but saying a polite but firm no is important in many situations .

From dealing with the bully in school who stopped his bullying on one fateful day when i just stood my ground to one of the coworker who was difficult person for most but less for me because i used to say the greatest number of polite nos , the upkeep and maintenance of personal boundaries is very important . It saves lots of our time in long run as well as enhances self esteem . Do i remind you of a rottweiler . Rottweiler or rottie is one of my favorite dog breeds ( the well bred ones )  and yes the concept of boundaries whenever i think about i get reminded of a rottweiler herding the horned cattle .
