Recently i saw pictures of one of my seniors with a picture of his patients elbow before and after the surgery .He is an orthopaedician . Nothing unusual but for me they brought back many memories as well as some pertinent thoughts . For starters the elbow joint which was severely destroyed by a rifle bullet wound came straight from Libya where the war is going on ...And my friend is now in Libya .
And i dont know why we used to call him "pattaalam " meaning military as 15 years back except for his 6 foot 2 height there was no military connection . We used to practise mappila paattu together for group song at medical college trivandrum and tough looking though he was he sang well and was good company (good memory ). Another memory was when he stood as a human shield preventing us from entering in the exam hall as their party had called for a strike .
Anyway fastforward to 2011 he is in the frontline not part of the military but as a doctor tending to the sick and the wounded with ghastly war inflicted injuries . I or rather us is extremely proud of him as that is a job which requires not only skill but great courage ... In the photo i saw his patients smiling inspite of the bad injuries ... (after the treatment ) . And one of his comments made me think ....
In it he has shown a photo with him and 6 other colleagues from different countries . He has given the caption 7 people , 6 religions and clearly marked himself as " not religious " . The point is this guy who is " Not religious " is doing work closest to what we perceive as "Godly " .... And i see so many people who are "Intensely religious " who do many things which are "ungodly " . So my question who will go to heaven ? -----This pattaalam guy with his hands soaked in blood or the "religious " who do the easier things of praying in an AC room etc etc .and doing ungodly things
Comments are welcome ....
